The beginning.

The start for me down the rabbit hole of accumulating knives came shortly after the death of my father. At a family gathering my brother brought out an old school metal coffee can that had been in my dads stuff that was filled with pocket knives. We went around the table and in turn each picked a knife until they were all claimed.

One of the knives I picked led me to researching online for more information. A Camillus 69 pattern, otherwise known as a stockman pattern. My 69 has what is known as a short line tang stamp which puts its manufacture somewhere between 1946 - 1950. Tang stamps and their use and usefulness in dating a particular knife will be discussed in future posts.

My research efforts led me to the All About Pocket Knives forum where I lurked for a while looking and learning. There are other sites and forums for knife lovers but more than I can list here.

Going forward I will share more about my collection and the hobby overall.

Thanks for stopping by.
